April 29, 2010 -- Today the ACLU of Oregon testified before Portland City Council raising concerns about the latest proposed "sit/lie" ordinance.

While we recognize that this proposal is not a compolete ban sitting or lying, which is an important improvement over previous versions, we still have a number of concerns that we brought forward to Council's attention.

UPDATE: On May 6, 2010, the Portland City Council voted unanimously to approve the ordinance.  ACLU will monitor its implementation.
