Diverging Opinions on Personal Rights
Featuring Paul M. Smith, Partner at Jenner & Block, a civil liberties and human rights attorney with an active Supreme Court practice. Mr. Smith has argued 13 cases, including Lawrence v. Texas and Celotex Corp. v. Catrett before the US Supreme Court. Lawrence v. Texas is the landmark case that overturned Texas's anti-sodomy statute, recognizing the rights of sexual partners. He has just been named recipient of this year's Thurgood Marshall Award by the American Bar Association Section of Individual Rights and Responsibilities.
There will be a Q&A with Mr. Smith from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Wood Hall, Classroom 7.
