LANE COUNTY CHAPTER ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING

Featuring “Inside Guantánamo” a presentation by Bryan Lessley
Mr. Lessley is an Assistant Federal Public Defender based in Eugene for almost 20 years. He is a member of a team of attorneys representing six detainees at Guantánamo and will share his experiences working with these clients, including the conditions of their detention and the fight to win legal rights for them. Mr. Lessley and his team received the ACLU of Oregon’s Civil Liberties Award in 2009 for their extraordinary work defending those held at Guantánamo . See the Guantánamo video.
Elections will be held for the Lane County Chapter Board of Directors. The nominees to serve a two-year term are Guadalupe Quinn and Kayla Schott-Bresler
Also on the agenda, the Lane County Chapter will honor the winner of the 2009 Lane County Student Essay Contest as well as former board member and long-time community activist Glenn Gordon. To read the essay, click here.
