Temporary Campaign Organizer (“Campaign Organizer”) Position at the ACLU of Oregon

As of the date of this posting (March 7, 2025), we are seeking to fill one Campaign Organizer position.

Please note that this is a temporary limited-term, full-time position, which means that the employment period for this position is from the hire date, approximately May 2025, to November 30, 2026.

Summary of this position

The team member in this position is a relationship builder, a project manager and planner, a doer and implementer, and a problem solver and clear communicator who is detail and deadline-oriented, capable, self-motivated, proactive, supportive, and very organized.

This position’s responsibilities: The team member in this position will support and enhance the ACLU of Oregon’s mission, vision, and values by effectively planning, managing, coordinating, and implementing our campaign organizing work – oftentimes embedded within or in collaboration with coalitions, partners, allies, and communities – to further the ACLU of Oregon’s strategic priorities and campaigns. This position will primarily be assigned to work on the Equal Rights for All campaign.

Who this position works with: This position is part of our campaigns team and works closely, collaboratively, and supportively with all teams and areas of the ACLU of Oregon. This position will work on the Equal Rights for All campaign and work closely with our partners and allies on the campaign.

Qualifications for this position

We are looking for individuals with the following experience, abilities, and values:

Position-specific work experience: 1-3 years of directly relevant full-time experience in the next four areas identified in this section:

  1. Experience with volunteer engagement and mobilization, organizing, and/or political, ballot initiative, and/or legislative campaigns, with an emphasis on implementing effective field organizing strategies. Experience with legislative campaigns, ballot initiatives, or electoral campaigns is preferred.
  1. Experience effectively developing and implementing advocacy and/or ballot-measure-related strategies, projects, or campaigns in collaboration with directly impacted communities;  
  1. Experience effectively developing and implementing base building and facilitating organizational relationship building; and
  1. Experience with volunteer recruitment and management experience with voter file data tools like VAN and data entry is highly preferred.

Familiarity with and resides in Oregon: This position will work on organizing for the Equal Rights for All ballot measure campaign, which is a ballot measure campaign in Oregon. So, we highly prefer candidates who have familiarity with Oregon and currently reside in Oregon.

Ability to travel in Oregon, including driver’s license and access to a vehicle with insurance: This position will require travel in Oregon to support organizing efforts for the Equal Rights for All campaign across the state and will require the person in this position to be able to drive and have a driver’s license. We highly prefer candidates who have access to a vehicle with relevant insurance. We pay for work-related travel including mileage.

Equivalent education and/or experience: We will consider applicants who can demonstrate non-traditional work-related experiences comparable to more direct forms of work experience or education. 

Pay & benefits

This is a temporary limited-term, full-time position with employer-provided benefits. The employment period for this position is from the hire date, approximately May 2025, to November 30, 2026. The annual salary range for this position is $63,629 to $69,414. 

The selected candidate’s knowledge, experience, qualifications, and work-related ability level (including the complexity of work the candidate is able to take on independently) will determine the pay level and whether the position is hourly non-exempt or salaried exempt.

  • The hourly pay for the non-exempt Campaign Organizer position is $30.59, which translates to approximately $63,629 for a year period based on a 40-hour workweek for 52 weeks.
  • The annual salary for the exempt Campaign Organizer position is $69,414.
