The Oregon Public Utility Commission has dismissed the ACLU of Oregon’s inquiry into whether Verizon illegally turned over the private calling records of Oregon telephone customers to the National Security Agency.
June 22, 2006 — In a letter from the Southern Oregon Chapter of the ACLU of Oregon to Ashland Mayor John Morrison and the City Council, we shared “grave concerns about the Ashland Police Department’s development and uses of a ‘Watch List’ of 24 downtown persons regarded as ‘nuisances,’” and about the Department distributing the list to the Chamber of Commerce.
July 20, 2005 — The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) of Oregon is pleased that Douglas County Sheriff Chris Brown has reversed a rule that prohibited jail inmates from receiving newspapers. The ACLU of Oregon sent a letter to Sheriff Brown, in May, requesting that he to lift this ban.
